Belfield have scooped The Grocer’s gold award for Tesco’s Free From gluten and wheat cream filled profiteroles with Belgian chocolate sauce.
The Grocer remarked, ‘Our judges would never have guessed these profiteroles, which had a “light and fluffy texture”, were gluten free. Consumers were also impressed by the light, authentic-tasting choux pastry with chocolcate sauce.’
Belfield created the gluten free profiteroles for Tesco in response to the demand for more gluten free dessert options. Research shows that more than 60 per cent of households have bought Free From foods in the last year.
Belfield work along side European manufacturers to provide the latest innovations or develop specific products for major retailers in the UK. Ian King, Food Sales Director at Belfield commented, ‘The profiteroles are a retail first and we are delighted to be recognised for ther quality. We continually work to improve the taste and texture to ensure they taste just as good as their non-Free From equivalent.’
